Michael Albert

 

 

NY based Pop Artist and Author Michael Albert will be making a presentation about his Modern Pop Art Experience & Cereal Box Collage workshop program for libraries. He will introduce himself, show some examples of his art in the form of his limited edition posters & explain the program he has been bringing to schools, museums, and festivals all over the USA for the past decade. The program is appropriate for kids school-age and up, teens, adults, and as a combined family/community art event for the library. He will be offering free posters for the attendees to take back to their respective libraries and is looking to book dates in the coming school year and for Summer Reading 2018.

Michael L. Reist, the Amazing Magi

Through storytelling, sleight-of-hand, illusions, puppets, and more, The Amazing Magi will entertain the children 

 with a very interactive program that highlights the magic of music and reading. This is not a program where a magician

stands on a stage and simply does "tricks." Virtually everything The Amazing Magi will do will beinteractive with the children. There will be special guests (Melvis Preesley and Cindy Looper - special puppets made just for this program) who will interact with the children and help with both the music and magic. There will be hands-on use of various musical instruments that will also be part of the magic. All in all, this will be a program that educates, entertains, enchants, and excites the children. They will love this program and leave excitedabout music and reading.

Jay Smar  NE Pennsylvania coal mining songs, both original and documented, preceded by their origin, performed with vocals accompanies by guitar, claw-hammer banjo, and to emulate coal mining musicians of this region, Jay Smar fiddles, sings, and flat-foot clog dances simultaneously. NE Pennsylvania coal-related books, chronicles, pay scales, and photos are also displayed. The program has been approved and was once funded by the PA Humanities Council and also the PA Performing Arts on Tour (PennPAT). A very interactive children's program, "History Through Folk Music" is also available with clod dancing origin and instruction, mandolin/fiddle/violin similarities and differences, along with coal stories such as the invention of the first roller-coaster fro ma coal train in Eastern PA called the Switchback Railroad.

Recommended Audience: Children's Program K-8, 9-12, 14+ (different programs for different age groups) Adult program ages 12+. Group size does not matter.

Puppeteer/Ventriloquist

Adam Swartz Puppets  Every year, Adam Swartz Puppets presents an original, interactive puppet show based on the theme of the Collaborative Summer Library Program. They feature scenes from their upcoming 2018 touring show, "Alice and Jimmy's Epic Rock Dream." Alice has big ideas that no one else seems to understand and Jimmy is trying to find his rock and role style. Our heroes will travel far from home and encounter bullies, make new friends, and they need lots of help from the audience along the way. This show features a variety of musical styles and two original songs and is engaging for children and adults of all ages (including librarians)!

Mad Science of Pittsburgh  Mad science brings kids the fin, the amazement, and the wonder of all things science through interactive shows, hands-on workshops, and exciting festival booths. We'll make science come alive with a show your patrons will remember! 

Recommended Audience: Mad Science workshops are geared for up to 25 kids in grades K-6, with preschool programs for up to 20 kids. Shows are suitable for the whole family, and audience size is limited only by the size of the venue.
